  Transcript of the will of Peter Bonte 1653 I Peter Bonte being through God’s mercy of good memory and understanding but sick in body and ? commend my soul to God’s mercy through the passion of my saviour Jesus Christ have thought good to dispose of my affairs by will as followeth. Imprimis I give to my daughter Elizabeth Bonte that sum of money which my mother Bonte hath promised to me with remit to between forty and fifty pounds sterling which same shall be put into the hands of my uncle Nathianal De ? who promised to give for the principal sum five pounds in the hundred for interest every year which interest shall be recorded by my said uncle De? To manage the said portion of my said daughter Elizabeth Bonte as he the said principal come and interest paid at her marriage or at the age of one and twenty years. And in case my said daughter should die before her marriage or the age of one and twenty years I ordain that the above said sum and the interest thereof and also the possession which may befall her on the part or side of my mother Bonte that the one and the other shall return to brothers and sisters and their heirs equally to be divided amongst them. If she die before her marriage although after the age of one and twenty years I intend that my brothers and sisters or their heirs shall not withstanding be her heirs. As concerning all other goods I give two thirds part of them to my wellbeloved wife Ester Bonte and the other third part to my daughter Elizabeth Bonte which third part shall also be paid unto her at her marriage or at the age of one and twenty years my wife shall enjoy all during her life. Also I will that after the death of wife and of my said daughter Elizabeth the heirs of my wife shall have again that which she brought me in marriage and the ? shall aforesaid be divided equall amongst the heirs on both sides but in case should be found then that I and my wife brought at our marriage the less shall be alike to both parties. If my wife be married again before my daughters marriage or before her being one and twenty years of age I will and intend that he that married her shall give sufficient renting or security for the child’s share I say of my daughter Elizabeth Bonte and for my wife Ester Bonte. I make and ordain her executrix of this my present testament and last will commanding her to observe the same in every particular without any aberration or diminution granting her power to regain all that which is due to me and charging her also to pay all that I owe and bequeath give to the poor of the Widdows Church of Canterbury the sum of twenty shillings and the like sum to the minister of the said church whereof Mr Phillip to keep its Minister. In case my wife should die I ordain my brother John Bonte in her place to perform the good and profit of the child. This was done seventh September 1653 in the presence of Thomas?
