Steve Clarke's Family Tree

Welcome

Welcome to my family tree information. I also have an extensive tree on Ancestry which will always be more up to date than the website as it is continually updated from my main desktop program. I strive to maintain the best accuracy possible of all information by using promary reources where possible. I endeavour always to look at original registers as opposed to transcripts. For example if a baptism is shown the date and details are normally from the image of the original parish register. I have an extensive collection of wills which have been transcribed from the original handwritten documents which enables further points of reference. Also I bear in mind that for many in the past social and geographic mobility was limited. In general I start my pre 1837 searches working on an initial 5 mile radius and then extending beyond in 5 mile steps. You may find my information may differ from some online trees. This will be directly causal to my research approach and the fact that I have disproved those trees to my satisfaction on the basis recorded evidence found by myself. That is not to say I haven't made mistakes. If you find an error based on evidence I may not have found please let me know as I am always revisiting and updating and where necessary amending. Evidence has been obtained from Record Offices which I have personally visited or accessed records online. With the growing digitisation of records. I maintain subscriptions to Ancestry, Findmypast and the Genealogist. I hope you will find something interesting and enjoy the content. Steve
